About Border Highlands
BORDER HIGHLANDS is an active club for owners and riders of Highland Ponies. The club, which is based in the Borders area, welcomes members from the South of Scotland and elsewhere. The programme of activities includes both mounted and dismounted meetings. Club competitions are also open to non-members. Rosettes for members are presented at Border Shows. The club provides an opportunity for owners of Highland Ponies to share ideas and news. In ridden activities, the ponies complete within their breed, often in classes which are not otherwise available to adults riding 14.2 hh ponies. Special encouragement is given to junior riders. There are instructional rallies and demonstrations, which are aimed specifically at the Highland enthusiast. All activities aim to encourage and demonstrate the Highland as a performance pony. The club organises a performance scheme for Highland and Part-bred ponies. This scheme runs each year and provides an opportunity for a pony to collect points at any type of organised event.
